3 Reasons to Upgrade to LED Lighting

LED lighting options are more available than ever before and homes and businesses are making the switch from alternative incandescent options. These new-age lighting choices are causing waves around the nation's infrastructure from traffic lights to car headlights to home lighting options.  But why have LED light bulbs become so popular among not only environmental enthusiasts, but everyday home and business owners? From longevity to energy savings to environmental impact, LED lighting choices are the clear choice.

LED Lights Last Longer than Alternatives

No one likes replacing light bulbs more than necessary, and incandescent bulbs are known to burn out quicker than LED alternatives. LED bulbs have been proven to last up to 50,000 hours, compared to a mere 2,000 on average for incandescent bulbs. And, longer lasting bulbs lead to fewer trips to the store to buy new packs of light bulbs. LED bulbs don't burn out the way incandescent bulbs do, they simply begin to fade until they no longer emit the desired amount of light.

LED Lights Save Energy

One of the biggest culprits of high energy bills is household or business lighting. The traditional method of saving lighting until recently has been turning off unused lights. Now, however, LED bulbs provide a new alternative to cut down on that energy bill. LED bulbs only lose 20% of their energy to heat, giving them more energy to use for lighting. Additionally, they tend to use 10-20% less energy overall than incandescent alternatives.

LED Lights are Better for the Environment

Environmentalists have been long-time proponents for LED lighting and this principle is making its way to average households as well. LED bulbs contain no mercury, unlike incandescent alternatives. Since LED bulbs last drastically longer than incandescent, they naturally take up less space in landfills. Their high energy efficiency leads to a lower overall carbon dioxide footprint.
