A TRIBUTE

Highlighting a favorite crew member at Lighting Services.  silhouette of dog's face

Lighting Services, Inc. has been in business for 91 years.  A lot of staff have come and gone during that time, including friends who made work more fun and who could cheer you up out of any bad mood. One special being stands out: our unofficial mascot, the black Lab called "Huck", who passed away in February 2025.

As the faithful companion of our Vice President, Huck spent many days in our headquarters. As a shining example to his human coworkers, Huck always did what was asked and never complained (how many of us can say that?). Huck greeted everyone on his way to his office suite, then for the most part enjoyed the comfort of his doggie bed.

But he was not lazy.  Oh no, he had work to do:

  • Wag his tail at everyone?  Check.
  • Devour any dog treats you might have?  No problem.
  • Act as exercise coach because he wanted someone to take him outside?  Yes.
  • Be all friendly and let anyone pet him?  That's Huck.

Huck was also certified as a therapy dog and he was gifted at providing comfort to sick and troubled children.

While being docile and polite were great assets of his, Huck also had a fun-loving wild side, as evidenced by the times he escaped from the office building or the times when without the boss's knowledge the employees let him play and run around like a lunatic in the lobby.

Despite loving care from Cooper, age caught up with Huck.  Those of you who've had a pet or an office mascot or any kind of workplace friend can understand the loss.

Yet, we will smile and appreciate the effect our friend had.

Job well done, Huck. Rest in peace. heart
