If you own a commercial property, you are probably acutely aware of the utility bill. Big buildings tend to suck up lots of energy, especially if you inherited older, less efficient equipment. Now, LED lights are often touted as a great way to save money, which is true. They don't demand as much electricity as their more traditional counterparts. That is not the only benefit to them, though.
Great For Increasing The Safety Of Your Outside Areas
LED lighting has a different look from traditional fluorescent and incandescent lights. It's a bright white, which puts features in high relief. It reduces shadows. Also, since the lights are made of bunches of lighting elements instead of single bulbs, their light is spread out more evenly, limiting dark corners in areas where they are used. This makes them ideal for places such as parking lots, baseball diamonds, and commercial building exteriors. LED lights have bright, even illumination that helps people to see the ground, so they can avoid tripping, and it prevents unsavory types from being able to hide in the shadows.
Outside is also where nature happens, and that includes fog. The LED's brightness can make a bigger dent in mist than traditional lights, and this limits tripping hazards in front of your property, no matter what the weather.
Your Utility Company Will Likely Repay You
Most states and utility companies are making commitments to protect the environment. It's one of those causes that is universally accepted as good. Often, these commitments are expressed as rebate and discount programs for installations of the more energy-efficient LED lights. This means that on top of saving you money over the long haul by lasting longer, LED lights may be the more economic light to install too. These discount programs can be especially worthwhile if you have a large building that you want to upgrade.
Makes You Feel Better Physically
If you have ever been forced to work under a flickering fluorescent light, you know that it is very uncomfortable. Some people are more sensitive than others, but most people get a little queasy and headachy after a while. LED lights will basically only flicker if your building suffers from voltage changes, bad connections, or incompatible dimmer switches. These can be fixed easily, and then they are unlikely to flicker. Properly maintained LEDs have a pretty constant light.
This brightness and constancy means that your eyes don't have to adjust to new conditions often. The brightness also makes it easier to see in general. People's eyes will appreciate the break.
What's more, LED lights offer a variety of color temperatures. Cool white LEDs, which mimic daylight, have been shown to improve alertness and cognitive function.
Reduces Hassle of Replacing Lights
LEDs last longer than other types of lights. Replacing lamps involves shimmying up a ladder that takes up space in the hall and fiddling around with your head held at an odd angle, so having to do that less often is always nice. Even if someone else changes the lights, you have to make the call to those people and wait for them to bring out the ladders and then pay them for their labor, as well as paying for the bulbs themselves. Switching to LED frees up your time and money.
