Why Your Industrial Business Needs An LED Lighting Upgrade

The lighting of warehouses, factories and other industrial buildings is sometimes ignored or given short shrift unless there is something obviously wrong with it. No outsiders regularly visit and you tend not to have clients to impress, so making the lighting all pretty doesn't seem necessary. However, a lighting upgrade is exactly the sort of change that could benefit an industrial business.  Here are a few ways that switching to LED lighting can help your company.

Better Light Leads To Better Productivity       workers at food factory

LEDs provide a bright light that illuminates better than other types of bulbs. This better light leads to employees being able to work faster. They won't have to squint and lean in as they do their jobs,
which makes it easier for them to work longer. The pleasant ambient light will also make working more comfortable in general, and that will encourage them to work more efficiently.

Save Money           dollar sign

Your company is probably already spending a hefty chunk of change on various industrial processes. They often take quite a bit of electricity in themselves. There is no need to spend even more on lighting the building than you have to. You could use 75% less energy by switching from standard incandescent bulbs to LED lights according to energy.gov.

LED lights also last longer, so you don't have to spend as much on replacing them, which saves you money on the physical bulbs. You can space out your relamping of all your fixtures as well, and that will let you save on some productive time since your employees won't have to work around the electricians.

Increased Safety             sign saying safety first

OSHA regulations require 5 footcandles worth of light for hallways, exits and other indoor spaces. Factories and machine shops are supposed to have 10 footcandles of light.

OSHA is big on lighting for a reason. Brightly lit corridors and workspaces are less of a tripping hazard, cause less eyestrain, and are easy to navigate in case of an emergency. An industrial site already has many moving parts and hazardous areas. The concentrated light of LEDs will illuminate these things well so that employees can handle them safely.

LED lights can meet these needs well, and they tend not to flicker and dim on you over time. This means that you and your employees will be safer at work for a long time.

Increases Morale         cartoon sun with sunglasses smiling

Few things are more discouraging than working under shoddy lighting. It frustrates people and adds to the stress of work so that they can't focus. This hurts morale. The decreased morale leads to more people calling in sick, slacking off, bickering with co-workers, and generally not concentrating on the job at hand.

The diffuse light of LEDs resembles sunlight, which will cheer up many of your workers. LEDs also don't create that buzzing noise or flicker, so they don't annoy people as they work. This lowers everyone's stress level and contributes to a higher morale.
